Has anyone read this book and can you tell me if it contains useful PRACTICAL examples, generally - what do you think about it?

    Book title is:

"Expert One-On-One Oracle" by Thomas Kyte.

    Thanks

This book is an absolute "must-have" for anybody developing for Oracle. There is a lot of information for DBAs, but it is geared for developers.

will this book help in administering the database instead of developing?

This book will not exactly give you the syntax for administrative purpose but this book is a mandatory for both developers as well as the DBA's.

This book is very practical in nature and shows how to use Oracle in less work.

If you are talking about Oracle9i then no, it covers 8i and below but the basic fundamanetals are same.

Oke, I found the ISBN-number of the book.

I'm currently learning to get my OCP-DBA, but I'm going for Oracle9i.

It's probably worth the cash, so I'll try to obtain one.

    Thanks adewri!!

    Tom says it's 100% applicable to 9i.
And I'll go a step further and say it'll also help you a massive lot in 10i. Why?
Because forget about the cool features that'll be introduced in the new releases, you'll never use them all. but Tom is going to write a sequel to it in summer 2004 (now that wrox is getting back to business-hopefully they'll publish it).
