    Hi folks,
I am on the verge of giving my last OCP 8i exam ..incidentally it's the first in the list -"Oracle SQL and PL/SQL"
To be frank I have no experience of writing SQLs or PL/SQL, on the contrary I've been working intensively on DBA job..and so the fear factor grips as to what I need to do to pass the exam. Is it just enough if I know things which are given in the OCP preparation guide from Oracle press ??The tests there are fairly simple but then based on my experience of taking other papers the tests are comparatively tough in the real scenario.I also have Oracle press' OCP Practice Exams book. The tests there are also not very tough.I find the pratice exams(free ones) found on the web also to be ok,(if not very easy)..so, what else..just to pass the exams, is what I've prepared enough ??or do i need to do more..i have only a week to go..so, please guide me..

    Thanx & regards,
    Madhan

In your situation, the best way to determine if you are ready for this exam is to buy the STS practice test (not the free demo) and continue taking it until you can score greater than 90% on a consistent basis. Make sure you understand why certain answers are incorrect (when you do answer them wrong)...and make sure you don't get into the habit of memorizing the questions with their answers.

I may be playing devils advocate here but how do you perform a DBA role with no experience of SQL or PL/SQL

    They just might jim!

To compete with microsoft's exam structure, maybe oracle will start simplifying the structure. I saw a multiple choice Q of a microsoft exam(which was published in the pc mag which i subscribe to) which was like this...
Which 3 palm tops that use .net services?choose the correct answer
    1. hp
    2. mac
    3. nokia
    4. All of the above.

So they might as well put the smiley headbanger multiple choices!!!

    Cheers!!!!
