Hi,
Very frequently our database is getting crashed(atleast once in a day). But in all the situations it does not require any recovery(apart from crash recovery).
Strangely I am not able to find any shutdown command in the alert.log file when this occurs.
It has a few ORA-600 errors generated. Those trace files had two-task errors being logged into that.
1. Does two-task error results in database shutdown?
2. If yes then why Oracle did not log the shutdown
information into the alert.log?
3. Any other specific reason why the database goes down.
Thanks.
Vijay.

What is the OS, Oracle version ?
Two-task errors ( FATAL ERROR IN TWO-TASK SERVER: error = 12571) are caused by abnormal disconnection by the client before the server fetches back to the user/client the result of an operation. However, this does not cause the db to shutdown.

A similar problem I did have on NT 4, oracle 817, the reason was that the system was overloaded with a db intensive operation going on, on one of the other instances. So, the instance shutdown.
Check the load on your win box. (RAM usage mainly).
