Thread: orainst.exe??

    Question

    I want to install TCP/IP adapter.
    I read in Oracle documentation that i must run ORAINST.EXE,
    but i did'nt find it.
    How can i install the TCP/IP adapter?

    OS:Win2000
    oracle:8.1.6

    It should be at the CD. You will find it at your local drive if you have install the Universal Installer at your first installation

    u mean orainst.exe is the oracle installer?
    cause i run oracle installer but i did'nt find the TCP/IP installer.

    orainst.exe (Oracle Installer) is the installation shell for Oracle product. It reads from the *.prd files to termine what you can install. (and of course, what CD you have)

    Are you choosing custom installation? You should find an item by item manual if you choose custom installation, and TCP/IP adaptor should be one of the component.

    If not, you may get the wrong CD....
