    Dear Techies,
Have any of you tried Oracle Replication (Advanced-One master and several Updateable snapshots) over a dial-up connection.
The snapshot sites woule be dialing in after say every one hour and the replication
would be scheduled at that interval only.Given the vulnerability of a dial-up connection
getting disconnected, what could be the issues to be taken care of.
Please reply back with details of practical difficulties ,if any.
    Thanx in advance..
    Warm Regards,

    1. u have to take care of any conflicts resulting from the Snap shot sites as this is the major one which u have to take care of. once u resolved these issues u can manage other tasks very easily.

i dont expect any kind of conflicts from the snapshot sites because we would be opting for different tables for the different snapshot sites or probably a unique key which identifies the rows to be from a specific site(branch).
but what we are more worried is whether replication propagation will be affected in any way.

yes indeed it is little bit difficult in the Dail-up environment, but no problem as Oracle will try to keep on sending for 17 attempts if line will not up by this time it will show that the link is broken. After this u need to refresh snap shots manually. so only thing u take care of is keep up your Dial-up lines .
