    hi,
I have complted three off my oracle 8i (dba) exam. Two of them are remaining.(Networking & Tuning). One of my friend told me it is going to expire on this november! I am not sure about this! Please help me to find the correct expired month.

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

As is posted elsewhere in the forum....

Oracle have "committed" to give 6 months notice of any retirement. Therefore the earliest they could retire the 8i track is Jan 2003.

    Keep going!

I received a letter.. ohh, around last year... suggesting that Oracle "COULD", retire the track early 2003. But, you know, that was when they were trying to get everyone to certify in 9i. I think it'd be based on the number of people completing the cert. Think about it, when the demad goes down for a specific cert i.e. Oracle8, Oracle retire it. While HEAPS of people are certifying in 8i why would they retire the track... more money for Oracle (5 Exams + 1 upgrade to 9i). Rather than 4 exams for straight 9i....

    Cheers

    Exclamation

    Keep at it, dennison75!

I just passed 1z0-023, with three to go for OCP 8i! (which I will have completed by September's end)

If the letter mentioned by grjohnson is the one from September 15, 2001, it stated:

"It is likely that Oracle will retire the Release 8i paths by the end of 2002 or shortly thereafter."
    http://www.oracle.com/education/cert...e_pipeltr.html

which we know has not yet been officially announced!

Achieving OCP on 8i you'll also benefit by being exempt from the ILT requirement announced recently for OCP9i candidates.

    Keep on truckin'!!!

I think this certification forum should have the heading,

"Please read and believe the contents of http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/ before asking any questions!"

I'm constantly amazed by the number of people that believe what their mate's-wife's-mother's-dog told them rather than believing the official Oracle site.

Are Oracle really so dishonest people would prefer to follow the urban myth route to information????

I heard the Oracle 10i track will retire in August 2008. Is that true?

    Take your point Tim.

Does that mean that Oracle's new requirement for OCP 9i will improve my real world abilities and generally make me more attractive to women???

Nick, my girlfriend would like you're number when you've completed the 9i OCP track!
