    Hello,

    Currently our backups take 8 hrs to finish using RMAN. I know using the Large Pool will further reduce the time taken for backups, however are there any other parameters i can set to reduce the backup time?

    Thanks,

    Do you backup to tape? How many channels do you allocate?
    Give us some details.
    One, who thinks that the other one who thinks that know and does not know, does not know either!

    HI,

    We backup to disk, and allocate 8 channels with 10 datafiles each, however if the datafile is greater than 15G than one channel is allocated per datafile. I was more interested to know if there are any init.ora parameters i can set to reduce the backup time.

    Thanks

    Hello;
    It's good that you make your backup with rman.
    So you can change your backup-strategy and plan some INCREMENTAL Backups between the Full-backups.
    This is an rman-option controlled via the backup-rman-scripts.
