    Oracle document says that in locally managed tablespaces does not generate rollback info (ie undo)for space management.
    But even when the bit mapping is changed in the datafiles, it is a change to the segments, then way not undo is generated for the bit map changes for locally managed tablespaces.

    Why system tablespace cannot be locally managed? Document says something regarding rollback segments.I could not get it.
    Can someone please clarify.

    because the changes are not stored in data dictionary

    documentation says many things you cannot do, the reasons is kept internally if you know some Oracle insiders ask them

    In Oracle9i Release 2 you can have a locally managed SYSTEM tablespace. I figure there were a few issues to iron out that weren't complete by the time Release 1 was issued.
