Thread: SnapShot compatibility

    Our live system is running on Oracle 731 and we would like to move all the data across to a Oracle 9i DB. We have one of two choices. Either, create a snapshot in the Oracle7 DB or Export and Import. If we decide to go with using the Snapshot, what i want to know is, if it will work? Snapshot from 7 to 9?

    it will work as 9i supports backward compatibility.

    u can also take a backup of the controlfile and using the script got from it.Create the new database in 9i, same as ur old database and do an import....
