I want to create a new instance of my Solaris oracle8i sever ? Can some one help with a document with step-by-step instructions PLEASE . . . .

I forgot mention one thing, I have an existing oracle8i running, I would like to create another instance on the same solaris box. . . the documentation is for new installation (is it true ?) . .

seems like U need to have another instance on the same box (UNIX/NT). Use DBASSIST utility provided by oracle, to create another instance on the same machine.

Or you can also run the create database script, which you manually have to prepare.

well if you dont want to take any risk, create a new instance using the DBASSIST. that will be fine. And one more thing is you do not need to shutdown the existing instance.
