exporting with query option

In the september/october 2001 issue of oramag, tom kyte explained
a procedure of exporting tables with where clause on nt and unix platform. but i am trying to follow same procedure in open VMS and it is exporting whole table instead of using where clause. Does anyone know how to use where clause in exort on vms.

I have managed it t work but that table doesn't have any index on it. Does any one know what will be the effect if table already has index and data is imported in that table.

As far as I know this is new to 8i. I have used it in an HP/UX enviornment with no problems. I set up a test box and did not want to pull all the data from production, so I used a QUERY where rownum < 501, this way no table has more than 500 rows.
