    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could clear this up for me.

I am sitting the ORACLE8 Performance & Tuning exam 1Z0-014 on Feb 25th (with a possible re-sit on 28th March) The close date for this track is 31st March 2002

My question is; If I fail this exam (god forbid) do I have any other options, i.e. can I sit the equivalent Performance Tuning exam from the 8i Track 1Z0-024, and do the 8i New Features exam 1Z0-020. Would I then be Oracle 8i certified.

I have looked all over the web but can't see an answer to this either way.

    Many thanks

    Allie

    Hello Allie

If you flunk the exam i am faraid then you will have to tread the mixed path...that is mentioned on oracles website.

Are there alternative paths to Oracle8 DBA certification for candidates who cannot (or choose not to) finish the core exams by March 31, 2002?
Yes. The only way to become certified as a DBA on Oracle8 is to complete the four core exams by March 31st. However, most of the exams required for Oracle8 certification can also be applied towards the Oracle8i DBA track.

Oracle8i DBA Mixed Release Path: (6 exams required). Candidates may use their completed Oracle8 DBA exams towards the Oracle8i DBA requirements. Visit http://www.oracle.com/education/cert.../dba8i_mm.html to view the Oracle8i DBA Mixed Release Path. Keep in mind that this path requires a total of 6 exams, compared to the five exams required in the Oracle8 Core Path.

what this means is that you will have to write oracle8i performance tuning exam and after that write one more exam called
    Oracle8i: New Features for Administrators

and you will be oracle 8i certified ....:-D

Thanks for that, Hopefully I won't need it but it's best to be prepared.

Fingers crossed for the 25th Feb (still giving me enough time to do the resit if I have to..)

    Allie
