    Hi,

    Studying for my last OCP 8i exam, backup and reco and i have a question about stanby.

    It states that when adding new data files to primary database they must be applied to the stanby database. okay no problem. My question is what state is the standby database in when issuing the 'alter database create datafile ...' command?

    Is it in mount state?

    Yes, the standby database is in mount state.
