We are currently in the process of deciding between IFS and PVCS. We have a lot of shell scripts, pro*c and pl/sql code that we are keeping track of for several projects. Any suggestions regarding the choice between IFS and PVCS in a Solaris/8.1.7 environment?

I'm particularly interested in the DBA's point of view regarding IFS setup, maintainence. Any thoughts/suggestions from you would be appreciated!!

PVCS is for configuration Management, Version Control, Bug Tracking, and Source Code Control.

It's being marketed as a product that can help with version contol too.

My concern is that maintaining IFS would be too much trouble just for version control. Does anybody out there have any opinions on adminstering IFS?

    Thanks!
