    Hi Friends..

    I have 2 questions :

    1)

I have noticed many user processes which are spawned as soon as an oacle instance is started. The command looks something like this :

    oracle (DESCRIPTION=(LOCAL=YES)(ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=beq).

I do not have beq protocol specified in tnsnames.
BEQ protocol is specified in snmp.ro.ora.

Do these processes have something to do with the subagent.
A truss -p pid shows the process performing a lot of read/write. Does anyone know what it is, why it is there, what it is doing ?

    2)

also.. can increasing SGA have a negative affect on performance - if so in what circumstances?

    Thanks

    Suresh

Once you have eliminated all of the impossible,
    whatever remains however improbable,
    must be true.

Increasing the SGA may cause swapping and paging in your host machine processes. This will negatively impact Oracle performance.

A bequeath connection is another way of saying dedicated connection.
