I have a quick question. Can you store unicode in oracle database. And if so, how. Thanks.

So, if I understand this correctly, UTF8 is UNICODE format and you have to set this when you create a database. i.e. you can not go back to some other character data set.

I have not worked with UNICODE and I am involved in a project that might require me to work with it. Can any one point me to good white paper/document that tells me the pros and cons of using this format with Oracle.

    Thanks.

If you can go to metalink and type in UTF8. Will give you tons of docs on this (bulletins, forum discussion etc., ).. Even in technet.oracle.com, type in UTF8 as search string and you will get all docs related.. Hope this helps..
    Thanks, ST
