tnsnames.ora v.s. Local Net Service Name Configuration in Net8 Config Asst

Hi,

What's the relationship between file tnsnames.ora and the Local Net Service Name Configuration which is available in Net8 Configuration Assistant? I mean, when we Configure Local Net Service Name use the GUI tool, does it actually write a record into tnsnames.ora file? Also, when we open the GUI tool, does it read from tnsnames.ora file to bring up existing service information?

The reason for me to bring up this question is because I can NOT successfully test connect to the service I added from the GUI tool, but if I manually add a new entry to tnsnames.ora file, it works. And if I bring the GUI tool, the new entry I added to the file is not shown there.
