Does anyone run oracle instances as a user other than oracle? If so, have you run into any problems? I would like to start and run a database as a user other than the oracle user. The user belongs to the dba group, but does not own any of the software or data files. Do you know if this is supported by oracle?

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Of course, you can startup/shutdown an instance with any user with dba privilege.
I don't know if it is supported by Oracle, but I suppose yes...
Anyway, to let me anderstand a better way your question and reply more precisely, what version of Oracle and what OS do you use (NT / Unix )?...

    Cheers
