Thread: UTL FILE DIR and instance hangs on NT?

    any one have experience with this?
    what error messages did you get?
    what error handlers did you use to capture these messages in file open. read, file close?

    UTL FILE DIR instance hangs details

    2000, v816

    intermittently when the application tries to manipulate a *.daf file that is referenced with utl_file_dir=*, no error is generated, alert, trace, application and the instance hangs and must be rebooted.

    i asked that the dev's incoroporate handling into the file open, read and close of the file and ased that they name specific directories in utl_file_dir.

    wanted to know if anyone had any insights on this?

    hangs 816 on nt

    turned out to be a bug. upgrading to 8.1.7.2 should fix
