Thread: Upgrade from 7.3.4 to 8.0.4 On HP-UX10.20

    Question

    Hi ,

    I am Gupta from Hyderabad. Now I am working as a Oracle DBA for production support Applications.

    I have some confusion's on Oracle Upgrade.
    Presently I am using Oracle 7.3.4 on HP-UX10.20. Now we want to upgrade from 7.3.4 to Oracle 8.0.4 on HP-UX10.20.
    I don't know how to upgrade from 7.3.4 to 8.0.4.

    Pl. help how to upgrade from 7.3.4 to 8.0.4. If you know somthing pl. reply as early as possible.

    If you want any further information I will provide. Pl. let me know. I have the full system cold backup.
    Any patches avilable for this updgrade or any other alternative. Pl reply.
    My Database size is 29.70GB

    what i would do:
    take a full export in a restricted session.
    remove all data,redo,ctl and arch files.
    ensure the variables like ORACLE_HOME,ORACLE_SID,
    SHLIB_PATH,ORACLE_BASE are set.
    as a oracle user in dba group run the installer on X-server.
    choose not to run the dbassistant.
    instead create the db with the create db cmd.
    run
    catlog.sql
    catproc.sql
    otrcsvr.sql
    pupbld.sql

    import the data.
