Is there possible that only certain users to be allowed to view certain rows in a table? I know it can be enforcet at GUI level, but I was wondering if Orcale 8i has this as a new feature.
    Thanx,

I don't think there is something specific in 8i to do this but you could create a view on the table and exclude in the where clause on the select. Hope this is of help

Yes, Oracle 8i has new feature in this field. This feature has various names, even in Oracle docs they are refering to it as "row level security (RLS)", "virtual private database" or "fine grained access control".

You can read an excelent article on this subject at http://osi.oracle.com/~tkyte/article2/index.html
