    Question

    Hi,

I am trying to backup the database to tape. I have to specify a parameter called PARMS. What is this value? I can understand that this value is some parameter value related to the OS. But, I am not sure what to set it to....

I am using the Backup Manager tool from the Enterprise Manager Console. Running Oracle 8i on Windows 2000.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

It would be based on your backup manager. Does it use legato or any backup software? If so you have to refer those manual for more detail.

Say for example, if you are using legato, then you wouldn't need PARMS set up for the RMAN, on the other hand like Tivoli's TDP, then yes you would require to use the parms.

There you go, check the verital installation or administrator manual for the parameter names and how to set them up.
