Hi. I am using Oracle Enterprise Manager 2.1.0.1.0 on an Oracle 8.1.6 database to try and create export jobs and schedule them. However, everytime I run them I get an error of "VNI-2015: Authentication error". Does anyone know what this error means or what causes it? Thanks

To do the export, you have to give the server node's user name/login name under which you installed oracle on the server node. Not the oracle user name like sys/system

Go preferred credentials tab in OEM and set for the node on which you want to export and set Oracle super userid and password or user that has OS Account and export db privileges.

I have set the preferred credentials in the OEM as the user that has export/import privilegees, yet I seem to continue to get the error.

Is it a database user name or server user name. Make sure it is a user name on the server and not a database one.

    Brief description abt Jobs:
When scheduling Jobs or Events through the Enterprise Manager Console, the Oracle Management Server takes the request from the Console and submits it to the Intelligent Agent on the target server. The Intelligent Agent attempts
to establish a "new" Operating System (OS) logon session for each job that it receives. The OS logon credentials are pulled from the Console's Preferred Credentials settings.
In the Preferred Credentials section, each discovered service is listed along with its service type. For OS logons, the " NODE " service type must contain a valid OS user that has the correct permissions.
So, open user manager program from Administrator tool
of NT Server. Select "User Rights" from policy menu
and check the "Show advanced user rights" option, select
"logon as a batch job" from the drop down list box and
add the user, which u specified in Preferred Credentials
    in the Enterprise manager console.
So both the OS User and Oracle user should be same for the "NODE" service type.
I think this could help you..
