I have a small database and use RMAN as part of the backup strategy. I am using Veritas Storage Management and raw devices on a Sun 5500 (Solaris 2.6), and Oracle 8.1.6.

For a level 0 backup, the file produced by RMAN exceeds 2 GB. The system is unable to fit more than 2 GB in a directory.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to break the files created by RMAN into different directories?

    Thanks in advance.

The 2GB is the O.S limit. and it would be the case upto 2.7. So the way to handle this issue is that you use the set size option in your backup spec and that would limit the file size. For more details follow this link,
