    Red face

    I'v got a problem, the number of transaction in the system is increasing incredible fast, DBW and SMON takes too much memory:
    124M 6.0% ora_dbw0_WWW2
    155M 7.6% ora_smon_WWW2

    12:42:28> select value from v$sysstat where name='user rollbacks';
    VALUE = 12507118

    12:59:03> select value from v$sysstat where name='user rollbacks';
    VALUE = 12510066

    Normally, the process size depends on your SGA. to my knowledge, it is not possible to alter the processes's memory consumptions indivifually. If you want to reduce the process size, then you have to reduce the SGA in the instance level.

    Hi, 4th May 2001 20:46 hrs chennai

    I would be glad to know some point from you before giving a solution.

    What are the additional parameters you have added to the init.ora ? like Added ?==>PRE_PAGE_SGA ?

    If possible SGA size break even..

    What kind of DB OLTP or DSS ?

    Let me know your OS and oracle version please.

    Cheers
