I am trying to understand the difference between Oracle's default of "no action" on a constraint, and using "restrict". I have found some info in the documentation, but cannot find any examples of using "restrict". Can someone explain it and give a restrict example?

    Thanks in advance,

they apply to the what action to be taken on the child table

a)if you try to delete the parent record then oracle will restrict you bcoz there is a corresponding child record associated with it.

    no action

b)if you delete the parent record then the child record would not be deleted (no action) and the record would be left as it is.

i hope i am simple and clear
