Hi, here is the situation.
1. tablespace is dropped yesterday(it is a data tablespace, not temp or rbs or system).
2. not in archivelog mode.
3. no backup exept full export dated 15 august..
4. the datafile is not deleted on the os.
5. The tablespace did not have ddl statement.
Have any idea how to resolve this?

Unfortunately you are in a world of poo. I don't think you have any other choice but to use your last full export.

Unfortunatly, I think that you have lost your datafile ...
But I've heard about an Oracle tool which name is something like DUL to unload data from a datafile and to generate a dump file ...
Did the same thing in my early days. Oracle Consulting has a tool that can read the datafiles and spits out the data in a CSV format. For my company, the $2500/day was worth it.
3000$ for just five minutes in my case, but that's worth it ...
I do hope this was a development box, please tell us it is.

It's proprietery to Oracle Consulting. They even rm it from your box when they are through.

Its not a product, nor is it available to the General Public. It is a proprietary tool that Oracle Consulting uses to recover data.

I know, there is a simple rule to follow:
if the cost of (disk for archivelog mode + tape backup) >
cost of lost of data then backup like a mad man baby!!
It's a client database. And i done a lot of errors on production database, but never in hell i have and will drop a tablespace by errors without backup.
SITUATION:

SOLUTION:
1.Take a cold backup, with a backup controlfile to trace and add the datafile dropped in it.
2.Create a new instance on a new machine.
3.take the system datafile + the dropped tablespace datafile.
4.open resetlogs.
Think it will work?

Of course it will not work!
Your tablespace was dropped, so what's the point of this whole rescue scenario? Your backup controlfile to trace will still result in controlfile without the dropped tablespace. It has been dropped, remember? So it is not recorded in your current controlfile any more and there will be no trace of it in any kind of backup controlfile. So your steps 2., 3. and 4. are superflous, you'll ended with axactly the same redundant database as you allready have - without the dropped tablespace.
What does #3 mean? Take them out to lunch? Offline?Quote:

Why do you have to go to a new machine?
Why isn't there a step 5? "Put database in archivelog mode."
Why don't you call Oracle for support as has been recommended several times now?
If you "REALLY" want the data and you have enough $$$$$, then you can recover the data. All you need to do is: Contact Oracle Support.
Few years ago, Oracle Corpn told us $1500 per day work for recovering the data file when we did not have correct backup file.
It all depends upon the money you are willing to spend.
:) Is key entry an option :)

I wanted to recreate the controlfile with an adition of the datafile dropped in the new controlfile. Its a reply that i had on metalink, in the sqlplus forum post = tablespace dropped .

No matter where you've got that advice from, it still won't work. It's as simple as that. That file doesn't belong to anything in the database, your tablespace information was gone from the data distionary the moment you dropped it.
Appart from the proprietary superpower superconfidential TUL (or whatever) utility that other have mentioned, you can't use that remaining file for anything in your database except for reusing it with any DATAFILE REUSE operation. The data in it is lost.
i create an new instance, i import my owner dated 15 august, i aplly the ddl statement since.
Then i close the database.
I take my datafile dated 2 october.
Recreate the controle file and open the database with the tablespace system in the new instance.
will this work?
Okay, how is Oracle supposed to resolve SCN's?
Why don't you try what you're proposing and let us know the results?

What ever you have to do is.... simply sit with Backup and Recovery guide of Oracle documentation and learn the concepts. Nothing else can be done now.Quote:
