Wish you all the best (without cheat sheets, of course!!)
You would feel much better if you did'nt rely on cheat sheets.
Are you really sure you want to all 5 of them thesame day?
yup. i can only get one day off work. how hard can it be, i be studing for 3 mos pretty stedy. i already know sql from access, so i'm not even studying for that.Quote:

How much time did it take to prepare for all the exams ,is there any specific reason for taking all the exams at once ?
iv ben studing for 3 mos on and off, but i be cramin this weekend. i work at micky D's now and my boss gave me monday off cuz im working the closing shift on saturday. i can only get one day off inless i work every saturday in november.
IMHO, if you have one day off every week, you could schedule your exams every week on that off day so that you give one exam per week and have all 6 nights to concentrate on the exam at hand.
You would definitely be having your reasons, but its not wise to give all exams on one day (unless u are Albert .........)
All the Best !
may you succeed in all the five exams.
Wow :-) I am impressed. Post us with the results, we are all curious how you did. And, break a leg!Quote:

P.S. Do you take the exams in "ORDER BY EXAM_NUMBER" order or do you go first for the DBA stuff and then for SQL?
Would you be offended if we started placing bets on the outcome? This could get interesting.

$10 on passing 2 of 5.
I am not questionning his knowledge, but I can not imagine writing more than 2 exams in a day. It basically does not worth it.
He will probably pass most of them (if not all), but thescore on teh last one will be low.
Curious to see his scores.

I don't think that under normal circumstances anyone can pass them all in one day.Quote:

Well good luck, 5 exams in one day, I know you have only one day off, but think about it if you fail one test that's $125, take extra day off and be sure to pass all the exam, it is not that you don't know the stuff but reading to questions for 5 to 8 hrs is just too much, think about it.
Eggs and baskets come to mind. But go for it, and good luck. I've a friend who completed all 5 Developer exams in three days... he said it was tough, especially becasue you have to remember so much. But he was working with Development tools daily so he knew most of it anyway... it's just those small details you use once in a blue moon you have to worry aobut.
Good luck,
Maybe you could take two at a time and not waste your whole day off in the testing center.
Good Luck!
Pray for endurance.
Good luck.
Let us know the results, I think most of us are curious. Good Luck!
This has to be a joke. He had me until the part where he said "i already know sql from access, so i'm not even studying for that." yeah right :)
Seriously, good luck if you really are going for all five - hey, there are many of us that will be extremely impressed if you pass more than two.
It could be he is pulling a leg :-) 5 in a day, right... With almost 20 years of IT exp and vast Oracle knowledge I did study a month per exam (almost every day for 2-3 hours during that month) and found the exams tricky and sort of difficult.Quote:

I knew an Oracle Trainer who past 3 in one day, but this guy lived Oracle and was involved in training the subject for years... so it may be possible in some cases.
3 months study and no past experience is not a good formula to bet on.
I wish you the best of luck OCPWannabe.. maybe miracles can happen.
Remember you have 30 days to wait before you can take your exams again if you fail any.. so book a day off 30 days in advance.
I'll await Monday in anticipation...
hmm wasnt this peep the one with burgers....
anyway if you think if you hold a certification you would get big bucks I must say you are very wrong because many peeps hold the cert and they arent that overpaid, there are like 5 or 6 OCP in the shop I am and they are paid less than me... :D
Yeah, I think so. Just what we need in this world, another burger flippin' DBA!http://www.theunholytrinity.org/crac...ggrinyoyoA.gifQuote:

Personally, I think this is either a joke or a person with serious delusions... Either way, he/she's funny to listen to...
Well... I gues we'll find out today.
I would suggest that someone flipping burgers at minimum wage, would find even an entry level dba position would seem like big bucks.
If this is not a joke and he is able to pull it off, I hope he realizes his real learning will start if he lands a dba job.
Hopefully it will be in junior dba role, where intermediate or senior dba’s can mentor him. Otherwise if is hired as a full fledged dba … well need I say more (=:
Gee,
OCP 8i DBA
I was going to wish this guy good luck since it is Sun night already. So, good luck guy.
But than I started thinking. Who can sit in front of the computer for at least 6-7 hours and concentrate? 001 took me 1 hr and 15 minutes to complete, 023 more than an hour, but of course I went over the questions so many times more after that time..
And if this guy is in North America Prometric will not be able to book all 5 exams in one day for him - they look at the schedule at the testing centre.
Well, anyway, good luck guy, let us know how it went and where you are located. Everybody is waiting.
Leo
One of the main reason that I come to this site, he's better than Seinfeld!
There are enough dumps around in this forum that one can pass all the OCP tests without too much trouble. I believe he'll pass if he has a good memory else it'll be a tough day for him.
This guy must be putting you on, unless he has all the answers to every exam. He plans on writing every exam is less than 30 minutes if he wants lunch or a bathroom break.
maybe he wrote all the answers on his arms/body (in small print). Otherwise i think you would have a coniption attempting to figure out the questions Oracle writes/asks for 8 hours.

dude, what a killer. passed all 5, im goin to bed!
pt - 42/58
b&r - 44/59
network - 41/58
a&a - 42/66
sql - 44/59
Well ocpwannabe, if this is the case you've proved us all wrong.
Congratulations.
I'm still a little suprised though... and maybe somewhat concerned.
Hmmm....I don't know about these results....he barely passed everything...
and it looks like that he used cheet sheets to prepare for these tests, which is not worth it. He probably did not leran anything about Oracle if he memorized everything on cheet sheets.
Even though he passed the tests, he will not be able to find a job as a Oracle DBA.
What do you guys thing?
WOW OCPWannabe.. I mean OCP-ist.. you showed us all.
You got through some of those exams by the skin of your teeth... Well Done
BTW. Is it the Oracle8i OCP you have?
Only, I have passed 3 of these exams recently and according to my results and Oracle's web page, there seems to be a discrepancy in the total amount of questions you were asked per exam... They have possibly changed the structure. I may have to research this as I would like to know how many questions I will be asked and how many I need get correct for a pass.
http://www.oracle.com/education/cert...ba8i_exam.html
I recently wrote 001 and there were 57 questins ( 1 month ago).
023 had 64 questions a week ago.
Is it pssible that he got different # of questions so soon?
congrats and hope you earn big bucks but may be someday we all have to get real
Well congrats ocpwannabe ... you did it.
So, how did youuuuu prepare?
Also once your brain has cleared, goto skilldrill and take the Oracle8i DBA test and see how what ranking you achivie on it.
http://www.skilldrill.com
......
Leo, I believe there are different exams for each test.
The total number of questions for the exams I took are as follows:
PL/SQL - 57 questions
A&A - 64 questions
B&R - 60 questions
PT - 57 questions
NA - 59 questions
How does this compare with you?
Regards,
Gee
OCP 8i DBA
Congratulation to all. Keep flag flying.

Huh??? Whaaa????
Took the PLSQL at the beginning of October in London and got 51/57 and if I remember correctly I had nearly two hours for the exam though to my surprise had completed everything after 1hr45m. Bit annoyed as half way through the exam in this tiny room some folk came in for another exam and were talked through the procedures, I ended up having to reread a question about 5 times, not what I needed.
How this guy did all 5 in one day and prepared for OCP whilst holding down a job, well I wonder. To me the point of the OCP is to serve as a primer for DBA work the real learning starts on the job. The exams are the easy bit, cos u got to prove yourself when someone is looking over your shoulder and you got a problem looking you in the face! Of course it could be the boss staring you in the face and problems looking over your shoulder, not sure which is worse.
Good luck OCPWANNABE whatever you end up doing, I just hope if you are in McDonalds this will be a door opener for you.
