Hi Santosh,
I tried to download the developer software from technet.oracle.com but i don't know which one to download (i have windows 2000) please help!
You might have to wait until oracle releases a version for 2000. I would think that if you install the one for the NT you would have some compatibility issues poping out.

thanks sam
Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get Oracle developer 2000 to download on windows 2000? is any cd available with any book or any other way i can get hold of the software so that i can practice it?
thanks
Just to verify...
You asked about becoming an Oracle Developer. This, in my mind, means SQL and then either PL/SQL or maybe Java. If a team goes in to create an application, there will be developers for each of the multiple tiers, and these are the skills you would need to be 'the database programmer'. This has *nothing* to do with Oracle Developer. I fully consider myself a database designer and programmer and you will never find Oracle Developer 2000 on my resume.
So, I just wanted to make sure that you weren't confusing the issue. If your desire is to become an Oracle Developer programmer, then you will need, of course, to learn Oracle Developer.
If, however, you are just looking to learn how to program the Oracle database in order to be part of a development team - then Developer 2000 is pretty much irrelevant.

Hi Chris,
1) I'm going to reformat my question: What kind of Oracle job is available with skills of SQL & PL/SQL?
2) repeat my initial question about where to get software for developer 2000
Thanks

As a database programmer. Almost every project out there has a database attacched to the back end. Most projects are developed with multiple tiers. If developed properly, all the SQL will reside within the database abstraction layer, meaning, generally, in PL/SQL. Therefore, with SQL and PL/SQL knowledge, you can get a job as the database programmer for almost any Oracle project beig developed. Make sense?
The 'Oracle Developer' skills will only be useful on that very small subset of Oracle projects that are actually created using 'Oracle Developer'.
