advantage using dict over locally managed??

Yes. You will just have to give the directories (mount points) where Oracle will store the datafiles.

There's no such thing as oracle 10i. In addition, tablespaces are there, you just have the option of not using them.

okay, if dont use tablespaces, what will be the concept of storage then?

use automatic storage management and say to oracle, here is bunch of disks use them as you see fit
