Yes I did read the above three posts. I tried the suggestions that were present there and the installer still croaks and closes at 10%.
Try copying the installation files on your hard disk and then install.
There was a Bug in 8i on P4 and the workaround was to install it locally from the machine. I dont remember exactly what it was but theres no harm giving it a shot.
The first suggestion sounds like what I've been expiriencing here but I followed the instructions and could not find anything out of the ordinary.
I did a full hard drive scan for the ORAINSTALL.ERR file and nothing came up. There were no classpath entries in my environment variables. And I removed the registry key again and tried to reinstall.
With some quick fingers I was able to get a screen shot of the installer precisely before it croaks.
