As per my thinking, It is not good idea to switch sparc to intel without testing for production, we cannot take any example to compare with our existing production database. All time situation would not same for anything. If you are getting good performance in intel, it doesn't mean I would get same kind of performance. Without testing we cannot judge this thing. While we are going to migrate to HP itantiam then we should need to consider future upgrade of database too because there is no guarantee for not hitting any bug.
I assumed testing was a given no matter the technology involved - not only when the word "intel" is in the mix :rolleyes:
