You have 2 options.

1) Either use only RMAN not via BRTOOLS but by your own scripts.
2) Use BRTOOLS to make use of RMAN

If at all you use RMAN i wont prefer using it via BRTOOLS because as far as i know brtools using rman doesnt use catalog it does everything in nocatalog. Which is somehow i am not comfirtable with.
