As I said, and Ixion confirmed, just copy back the files and start the db

I doubt the backup was taken when the files were in OPEN state.

Thats becuase the OP did a create control file command prior and then performed media recovery! There is absolutely no need to create a control file.

I did the cold backup when the database was completely down.

I'll move the DATA,control & redo log files to the respective folder and try restarting the database and let everyone know if I am able to restore the database successfully.
