8.1.7 DB Instance craetion on LINUX,ORA-error

The port for the Oracle 9i database is 1522 and for the Oracle 8.1.7 instance is 1521.

an instance doesnt use ports - a listener does and you should only have one running anyway

OK then, ports as set in the tnsnames.ora(s).
Anyway, what's wrong with multiple listeners?

extra resources being used which arent necessary. Just better practise to have one listener serving both databases

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to thank you for your trouble, although the problem still persists.

Anyway, a call to Oracle has been opnened, and I'll see what they have to say.
