Rman config with veritas

Suppose if i need to configure only one sun server which has got 1 tape drive(not tape lib).Then installing veritas datacenter alone will do,am i right?

I dont want to use master server.

correct me if i am wrong

My system administrator told me the "master server" is required for nb. When him and i are talking "master server" we are talking about nb configuration not a "master server" as in a seperate "box" (although that is desirable).
