Anyhoo, I'm a permanent resident not an H1B, so I require no sponsorship and legally that put's me on a level playing field with citizens -- an employer can't say they won't employ permanent residents in the way that they can refuse H1B applications.

The exception is gov't work, where a lot of jobs are restricted to citizens for security reasons. Col springs is big in military/gov't work, short in other it seems.

I meant cheap labor as in the H1B stuff. Don't tell me you haven't seen any of the fallout from companies that hired practiced it. God I'm having dejavu`(sp).

Not a bad idea Right ? After all they are sending whole project to other countries since companies stop hiring immigrant workers and Govt start bumping up fee and asking for too much documentation to hire H1B's than before.

Business Men out there are to make money not to see what is good for their staff and whats not good.Their staff concern comes after how profitable they are.

Now people started bitiching about outsourcing concept. Doesn't make sense. Think about what would you do as a business man before you comment on outsourcing.

As simple as it is, you shop around to buy a product and buy whereever the same/equivalent product is cheaper. Its True with Bill/Larry or Other Biz Gaints too.

And you are saying that this is a good thing? That people who run companies don't give a crap about their staff, and that is good business practice?

And cheaper is always better, is it?

How about the business practice of handing over the operations of business-critical infrastrucure to people outside of your legal jurisdiction? What do you feel about that?

Boy, I realy can't wait for the first time we all watch a company self-destruct after dropping it's pants to the cheapest overseas bidder for it's IT development and support. I will laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh ...

Of course by then the "smart business men" who organized the whole thing will have taken their share options and run. I guess it is the smart thing to do!

Thats why I asked you to stand in CEO position and justify what other CEOs are doing Right or Wrong.

Why You are handling your business operations to someone else ? Because they were able to provide same quality services at cheaper price where big gaints from US can tap more for less. Why Oracle/MS growing and growing far imagination in Asia. I do not think they have that much business to capitalize. Just they are capitalizing Manpower in Asian countries.

How much One needs to spend for reasearch and development center here in US ? Give me the math , I will give you the math how much it costs you in Asian countries. Then you decide you want to spend that much here in US or you want to launch that in one of those countries standing in that CEO position.

Bottom Line, First, CEO s do things that makes their revenues multiply... Second, they will think what makes their staff happy. Otherwise , these many layoffs have not happened and happening...

I heared few years ago, Mr. Gates told if its not easy to hire immigrant workers he will launch his centers in palces where he can find professionals cheaper. Thats what exactly happening.

Why not, Why don't you start your business in global market where you can make/develop product of same quality at 1/10th of what it costs in domestic country ? Tell me one reason ?

The Only way, One can stop this Outsourcing concept is by enforcing import taxes on software thats coming from other countries and offering companies tax benefits to do their business in US. Only Govt. can change/enforce these policies to let US citizens/residents keep their jobs.

Well, we probably agree then.

IT skills are a strategic resource for any country, but the alternative to an import tax is (like i say) a few nice big failures. Unfortuantely such things rarely get made public.

Of course, if AT&T's programming was outsourced to China, then the nation might be in a tricky position should there ever be tensions between the two countries - I bet they'd have a lovely lot of source code to check for backdoors, trojans etc to stop the phone system being shutdown remotely, eh?

What sreddy said is correct. Nobody can stop the globalization of jobs. But few questions come into my mind..

1. Today jobs are moving from US and Europe to India, Philipines and other parts of Asia. Who knows tomorrow some African countries can offer cheaper technical labour than Asia. Won't the CEO's will wind-up from Asia to move there?

2. Another thing, the cost-benifits. They are surely narrrowing down. Now the salaries in India are slowly catching up with that of Singapore, Hongkong and some other attractive-places-in-asia. How long India will have benifit of cost??

3. With Chinese polishing up their English and IT skills, will there be a cut-throat competition between two Asian giants?

Nothing is permanent. The companies will move to whatever place that makes their balance-sheets look nicer. They are least worried about the staff, the nation, or whatever. Money comes first.
