One of the criteria I use to answer questions is the subject. If the subject is non-descript I move on to the next one. People who know how to describe a problem provide a good subject. I don't think it would help me answer questions faster...

Well Said. Doesn't make sense to type in strings like 'Urgent' or 'Respond Immediate'. Members respond to forum questions based on the topic and how much knowledge they have on that topic not cuz, someone said 'Urgent'. Even Pay support from oracle will not allow you to talk to them until they see tar in their systems which might take 5 to 10 min. So, Better the Subject desciption, better search capbilities on topic. I don't see seperate categories need either.

It reminds me of the famous Goose Is Out story. A Goose-baby was put in a bottle (through the mouth of the bottle) and was fed till it grew to a bigger size and finally to the complete capacity of the bottle. Now there was no way the Goose could come out either until it was killed or the bottle was broken:)

Here it is .. on one hand the Goose Is Already In and on the other - I ask myself Will The Goose Be Out?

And Guess What - Some day the committee of moderators decided that we should NOT be putting posts related to Oracle all in one Forum. We must categorize them into different forums such as "Oracle DBA Forum", "Oracle Applications", "Oracle Development" etc. Same committee of moderators also agree that there is no need to categorize topics of DBA, and after all the "Subject" alone can do the needful. If subject alone can do the needful, why at all categorize different forums anyway? Moderators find some ease in categorizing at some level and also NOT categorizing at some level:confused: :confused:

..and may I ask what gaurantee is there that an Oracle Apps question need not be posted in Oracle DBA forum, going by the logic of Marist89 ?? If the person is aware it's a B&R Question, he will categorize as a B&R question. If he is ignorant he may go wrong categorizing into something else (which he can still do by posting the question in a different forum):)

that will be a moderators duty. if they see the topic belongs to another category, then they will move it. this way the content will be organized nicely in categories will a little effort.

come on guys, you all are oracle gurus. don't tell me indicies are useless to organize the data. and search without them takes about the same time....
