What happens when you type

prtconf|head -2

When I typed prtconf | head -2, I do get total of 2GB physical memory. However, that is total physical memory but I am looking for free memory at current time. I need to find out about current free memory available because my production database hung and I need to find out whether running out of free memory and/or swap space was an issue.

I see. Why don't you try (for example) vmstat 5 5. It will show you the (approximate) free memory.

Run top command.
Look at the 4th line. You will see
Memory: 8192M real, 3566M free, 52M swap in use, 2000M swap free.

From the report, free memory is 3566MB .
