The reasons are:
1 All the DBA tools are very slow.
2 They will work with NT/Windows 2000 machine.
3 Security is lacking in the DBA tools.
4 Most of the tools do not take care of the new features of Oracle.
i agree with tamilselvan. even i never used OEM tools and others. what all these tools do. they just query the same dictionaries to get the output. the same whatever we do from sql plus prompt. but they utilise more memory. unnecessary. so i think best tool is sql plus. ya ofcourse u should know some of these tools just for info sake.

I do not use TOAD, OEM, etc. I use the command line :-) SQL*Plus is my favourite. If you know the Oracle DD, you don't need 3rd party tools.
OK, we have Patrol on our production DBs but almost all alarms are false.
the thread that won't die.....
yeah i agree, sometimes its easier (and faster) to use GUI tools. with GUI tools Junior Oracle DBAs can also start helping out in light DBA administration. But ofcourse nothing will beat SSH + SQL*Plus.
I haven't used it but there is an interesting thing called pocketDBA and PocketSA by ari kaplan that will enable you to administer and monitor your Oracle Databases and Unix servers using a PDA. check out http://www.xb.com.
