I have two 8.1.6 databases on hpux 11.0 with an externally defined user set up in both databases. I have created a public database link in db1 pointing to db2. As a normal user I can use the link with no problem. When I try it as the externally defined user I get a ora-12534 TNS:operation not supported. It also creates a trace file and I get an ora-600 in the alert log. I can log into the db2 instance as the externally defined user and do the select with no problem. It's only when I try to use the link that I have the problem. Does anybody have any ideas? I have a tar open with Oracle Support but thought that I would ask for help here as well.
