I always understood that you could not drop datafiles, but have seen in some disaster recovery scenario, the use of alter datafile offline drop...
Can someone explain the difference? I wish to drop some datafiles from my database, and am at present contemplating a recreate of a tablespace to reorganise/drop etc.
