Hi to all,
First of all I'd like to ask if a DBA can be called a DBA without the Oracle Certification. I have almost 8 years of experience working with Oracle Database from my home country, I haven't tried taking the OCP exam. Right now I am here in New Jersey under H-1B visa and is currently looking for a company that can sponsor my VISA transfer.
Would appreciate it very much if anyone of you can give me a name of a company that can transfer my visa to their name. Is OCP more preferred than experience?

Howcome one knows your 8 years DBA experience is worth *No offence* this z HR Question ? You have got to cross the HR gate to meet the Database services Manager/Project incharge/ Tech. Manager.
If HR feels that, Certification is a measure of one's skills, there is nothing you and me can do about, though we are confidant in skills, other than waiting to get a chance to meet Tech Manager Directly. When that happens. No one knows.
You should be in a position to convince HR, saying you have worth to consider though he belives the certified one is the right one. Iam realizing now, and in the process of getting certified.
You have to be get goin with the flow, not an exception. Had a debate with My manager and DBA group on the same topic. They too feel that, they are not gonna pick a dba just cuz, he/she certified but consider it as + point.
Typical scenario:
Customer Staff is OCP certified. Team who Manage Customer databases are not. Its not good to have this situation, no matter how cappable of that DBA team is... So, It not too late... to get certified.
