PLZ HELP: Oracle Port usage clash with other Apps
Please advise on this issue we are having:
There is a tcp/ip socket pgm (listener) running on a LINUX server on which Oracle 9.2 v/s db is running too. When this listener pgm closed and reopened Socket to LISTEN on Port# 4099, it got an error saying Port not available, Oracle got hold of this Port (when it was freed by the socket pgm).
I assumed that above 3000 or 4000 port#s are free to use for our local apps - system ports are below 2000. But now we are having this issue.
Is there anywhere that we can configure Port# range for Oracle usage??? If so how can we do it? The server is LINUX OS and Oracle 9.2 v/s. We want to limit the Port range for Oracle, what is the recommended range or Port range limit (100 ports or even more) for Oracle 9i???
Thanks for any info you can give ASAP.
