Can you please tell me how I can unistall the oracle software on Win 2K. There is one test databases (not needed anymore) on this computer, so it is safe to remove the software and database, but how do I do that? What will happen to the Oracle serivces?
    Thanks,
    Afshin.

You can use the database configuration assistant to delete the database.
After this you can safely delete the datafiles and other folders created for that database.

    Hi Akhorram,

Follow the steps to uninstall software

    1) First thing goto database assistant and delete the database and then delete the datafiles.Once you delete the database automatically the sevices related to that database are deleted

    2) Invoke Oracle Universal Installer and you will find a option called deinstall product click that and uninstall the oracle software.

    Hope this helped

Thank you for your help. I deleted the databases, and removed Oracle 8i as you described. However, in the Services window there are still 2 services listed but not running. They are:

    OracleOraHome81ManagementServer
    OracleOraHome81TNSListener

How can I remove these services? I imagine that there is probably some software related to these services that still has not been removed. However, in the Universal Installer, when I click on "Installed Products" or something like that, it says that there are no installed products. Can you help please?
    Thanks,
    Afshin.

    Hi

i ren onto this problem. what i did is simply disable this services. other wise, when you restart you gert an error message saying you have services that are not connected. i never tryed to delete them complitly, but i was able to install a db again after some time (from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7).

    1. start regedit
    2. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services
    3. Click on those services with names starting with Oracle and delete them
    4. Reboot the machine

    Hi

You can delete the above services by only modifying the windows 2000 registry. You cannot delete the service thru service Icon.

You will have to search thru the windows registry and delete but take extra precaution when deleting a key because if you delete some wrong key it might go on to screw up the whole system
