I have two identical databases (8.1.7.0.0), one running on Windows NT & the other on Windows 2000 server(new machine)

The response from the database on Windows 2000 is very slow.
The configuration for both is same.

Could any one explain me why? Are there any patches to applied?
Is it OS problem or hardware problem.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
