It also depends how you want to split the resources too? For example with the option of container in Solaris 10, one can have multiple VM (i.e. not exactly). Also the tyoe of storage, if your I/O becomes a bottle neck, then your cpu will be wasted

So, there is no rule of thunb that would fit all cases
