I don't (too) fully agree there though...

[1] You've certainly learned something there, I mean dba/developer/java..whoah..there's a lot you've learnt...

[2] Employer's sometimes ignore because they're looking for something else as well besides the cert...

[3] In almost 80% of my interviews they've emphasized the importance of certifying (I remember once in one interview I pointed out hte futility of the cert, and he said "unfortunately, it's important for us to know that you're willing to learn and certify..", Ooops I thought)

[4] Getting a job is also about someone putting in a good word for you.

[5] You want to also have your resume emphasize on your practical experience alongside the certifications. Like what dba/developer(pl/sql,java)activities you carried out...

It's not a complete waste. No Sir.
