install 9i R2 on Windows XP

Hi
Try changing the environment variable for temp.
On the desktop right click on my computer>properties>advanced tab>environment variables.
Chane the value of TEMP C:\temp to c:\DIR_NAME or E:\DIR_NAME and TMP c:\temp to c:\DIR_NAME or D:\DIR_NAME
Not sure about XP but works on NT and 2000.
This way you can make oracle use some other directory as temp dir.

Amar
I do agree there is nothing with the DIRECTORY name in as TEMP or
TMP, but do definetly carries a lot with the XP version.
The problem was actually while upgrading the database from 8i to 9i especially, the memory allocation comes into vogue.
Is there any limitation for 9i on XP OS?
Thanks
