    Why can't use RMAN in the ORACLE 8.1.7 for linux version.
    when i enter a command: rman , the program didn't start and no any messages for return,it just stop here, why?


    OS: linux kernel 2.2.17 ;
    DB: oracle 8.1.7

    what happened exactly could post the screen messages here.
    one possible think could be taht rman is not configured .
